Asher Roth Live (NYC)

This week I had the pleasure of attending Asher Roth's record release party at Blender Theater at Gramercy. Now I've been bumping Asher for a minute now, and so I was anxious to see him live and see if he lived up to his hype for putting on a killer set. No dissapointment here. Asher Roth is the real deal, a throw back to the classic spirit of rap. Songs about good times.

With Asher, what you see is what you get. There is no fronting. No claiming to be hardcore or gangster. He is a corny white boy from the suburbs, and he makes no effort to claim otherwise. Instead of borrowing the lives of movie characters, he raps about things he knows (beer pong, mario kart, blunt crusin', and mackin' on the girlies).

but enuff talk... hit up these videos from the concert and see for yourself (thanks to GroFo Shows for the video)

Earth Day themed rap?...

Lark On My Go-Kart (sick beat and nice lyrics)...

As I Em (Asher addresses the comparisons to Eminem)...

Now if you havent copped his debut album Asleep in the Bread Aisle, buy it now... it is not to be slept on.
